Washington Spartan Virtual Academy Graduation Requirements

At Washington Spartan Virtual Academy (WA-SVA), students must meet Washington State graduation requirements to earn their high school diploma. These requirements are designed to prepare students for college, career, and life after high school.

Credit Requirements

Students must complete a total of 24 credits in the following subject areas:

  • English Language Arts: 4 credits

  • Mathematics: 3 credits

  • Science: 3 credits (including 1 credit of lab science)

  • Social Studies: 3 credits

  • Health: 0.5 credits

  • Physical Education (PE): 1.5 credits

  • Career & Technical Education (CTE): 1 credit

  • Arts: 2 credits (1 credit may be Personalized Pathway Requirement (PPR))

  • World Language: 2 credits (both may be Personalized Pathway Requirement (PPR))

  • Electives: 4 credits

Personalized Pathway Requirement (PPR):
Students can adjust some Arts and World Language credits based on their individual career and college goals.

Additional Graduation Requirements

High School and Beyond Plan

Every WA-SVA student must complete a High School and Beyond Plan, outlining their academic goals, career aspirations, and post-secondary plans.

Dual Credit & College Readiness Opportunities

WA-SVA students can earn college credits while in high school through:

  • College in the High School (CiHS)

  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) dual-credit programs

These options allow students to graduate with both high school and college credits, saving time and money on post-secondary education.

State Assessments

Students must meet Washington State testing requirements in:

  • English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Mathematics

  • Science

Alternative graduation pathways may be available for students who do not meet standard assessment scores.

Community Service (Optional but Encouraged)

WA-SVA encourages students to complete community service hours to gain valuable real-world experience and strengthen college and job applications.

Physical Education (PE) Waivers

Students may be eligible for PE credit waivers due to:

  • Medical reasons

  • Religious beliefs

  • Participation in school-approved athletic programs or activities

Students should consult with their school counselor to determine eligibility.
